Are you interested in volunteering for events or fundraisers for the school district, PTO or NEF? Great!

If you have already submitted information and have changes to your entry please contact the secretary at your child’s school.

Note: Volunteers that need to be finger printed are Class Liaison, Field Trip, Parent Partner lunch program and ASEP*. No other PTO or NEF events require CORI or finger printing. See complete details below. It is your responsibility to get finger printed (if needed) as well as supply a CORI form (download form at the left of the screen) to the schools.

All information is encrypted in transit.

The Newburyport Public Schools have set a policy that will require Volunteers who could have unmonitored access to children to be fingerprinted, this would include Field Trips. Below is the section from our policy concerning Volunteers. The State Law can be found at:

https://malegislature.gov/Laws/SessionLaws/Acts/2012/Chapter459

In classroom volunteers (ASP, etc.):
Require chaperones participating in field trips which would only occur during the day under a regular staff employees supervision to complete a Background (fingerprint) Check with the understanding and in accordance with the law that they will continue to submit a regular (every three years) CORI check beginning at the start of the next school year (September, 2014).

Field Trip Volunteers (overnight):
Require any volunteer/chaperones participating in an overnight school related activity (i.e. field trip, Washington D.C., etc.) to complete a Background (fingerprinted) Check in accordance with the new Act Relevant to Background Checks beginning at the start of the next school year (September 2014)

Field Trip Volunteers (one day):
Require chaperones participating in field trips which would only occur during the day under a regular staff employees supervision to complete a Background(fingerprint) Check with the understanding and in accordance with the law that they will continue to submit a regular (every three years) CORI check beginning at the start of the next school year (September, 2014).

All fingerprinting results are delivered through a secure email site, these are then filed in a locked cabinet in a locked room for security.

Unlike state CORI checks that have no associated fee, individuals will pay a fee to comply with this requirement that ranges from up to $35 for non-licensed employees to up to $55 for license-holders.
